Ways to Make Money You May Not Have Heard Of
If you’re looking for some ways to make money, here are some that you may not have heard of.
We all know that getting a second job would give us more income but it’s not always possible for many of us. Plus with all the ways to make money out there, there are easier ways! Check out some below.
Make Money as a Scopist
What on earth is a Scopist? I first learned about Scoping from Work At Home School. Because I hadn’t heard about it, I knew many of my readers probably didn’t either.
A Scopist edits transcripts for court reporters. Court reporters write or “take down” proceedings using steno writers. They import their steno notes into computer-aided transcription software that translates the steno into English.
Court reporters then hire scopists to help them save time in the editing process so that they can make more money themselves. Want to learn more about scoping? Internet Scoping School offers a free mini-course to get started!
Check out the Free Scoping School Mini-Course.
You can also check out my full article on scoping here.
Make Money as a Voice Over Artist
Have you been told you have a great voice? Maybe you love narrating books? If you’ve ever heard a commercial or listened to an audiobook and thought “I could do that” then this career might be for you!
Learn how you can get started with this free voice over training! This free training is taught by Julie Eickhoff who is a professional Voice Artist.
I had the chance to interview her on the blog here, where I ask her all about being a voice-over artist and how to get started.
Check out the interview here or go right to the free training here to see if being a voice artist is for you!
Deliver Food (with a bike, car or scooter)
You may have heard about Uber and Lyft which are great ways to make money with your car but have you heard about UberEats?
Depending on the rules in your city, you may be able to deliver food with your car, bike or scooter. Yup!
Plus if you rather not drive strangers around, delivering food is a good option for you. You also get to make your own schedule which is great. Check out UberEats!
You can also check out DoorDash which is similar to UberEats.
Sell Your Photos
Like taking pictures? You can sell your photos online at places like Shutterstock, Fotolia, iStock and more.
While they don’t pay you a ton, it’s a great way to get your pictures out there and you don’t have to be a pro to make money.
Take Pictures of Help Wanted Signs and Help People Find Jobs
Job Spotter is an app that allows you to take and submit photos of help wanted signs and get rewards that you can turn into gift cards (which are basically free money).
It’s such an easy way to make some extra money that I had to add it. I mean how many times do you see a help wanted sign and think nothing of it?
Make Money as a Mystery Shopper
I have been mystery shopping for years and while I don’t think you can live off the money you make mystery shopping, it’s a great way to earn some extra cash and get reimbursed for things you would buy anyway. You can find legit Mystery Shopping companies over at www.mspa-americas.org.
I also wrote an article a few years ago on mystery shopping, it’s a little outdated but I mention things you should avoid so that you don’t get scammed (ex. no wiring money, sending checks etc). You can check that out here.
Teach English Online
Like teaching kids? How about teaching English? You can get paid for teaching English to kids online with VIPKID.
VIPKID offers world-class English language instruction online, helping students develop not only their English language ability but also their critical thinking and creativity.
To become a teacher at VIPKID you do need a Bachelors’s degree but it can be on any subject. It’s a great way to earn some extra money and help others. You can find out more here.
Test Websites
There are a few places where you can sign up to test websites and they actually pay a decent rate. I currently perform tests for a company called UserTesting. It’s super easy, and you get $10 via PayPal for every 20-minute video you complete.
UserTesting pays you to visit websites or apps, complete a set of tasks, and speak your thoughts aloud. You have to be in a quiet environment to do the tests so if you have a little one running around you may have to wait until they’re asleep.
While I don’t often qualify for many tests I have been able to make some extra income in my spare time by doing this.
Sell Your Stuff
There are so many ways to earn money now online by selling your stuff. Many of us just have way too much and for what reason? Do you have clothes in your closet or in storage that you don’t wear? Do you have things you bought and never used?
I recently started decluttering my home and have found that it’s not only freeing to get rid of stuff just taking up space but I have earned some extra income doing so!
I’m currently selling my clothes on Poshmark (you can check out my experience here). I love it because they do everything for you including creating the shipping label and customer service. I walk you through the process of Selling on Poshmark.
Another great way to sell even more things is on eBay! If you’re intimidated by eBay (like I was), go ahead and grab the Free Beginners Guide to eBay created by my friends over at FleaMarketFlippers.
You can also sell used DVD’s CD’s etc on apps like Decluttr or sell furniture or almost anything on OfferUp, Letgo or Facebook Marketplace locally.
