Walmart is known for their “everyday low prices” and their “rollbacks” but are you really saving the most you can by shopping there? I don’t shop at Walmart that often because it’s just not that convenient for me BUT I do have a 24 hour one near my home so when I need some quick things at odd times I find myself there.
I do however have friends who shop at Walmart a lot (they seem to be there a few times a week). I also have a lot of readers who ask me questions about how to save money at Walmart.
That’s why I decided to write an article on all the ways I save when I do go there and how you can save money too!
The first one is one of my favorites……….

5 Ways to Save Money At Walmart
1. Take advantage of the Free PickUp & Discount option!
This is a feature I only noticed recently and requires you to start your purchase online. But basically, you’re looking for items that are marked with a Free Pickup + Pickup Discount option.
Some discounts are really good like this Step2 Wild Whirlpool Water Table which a couple weeks ago was giving a discount of $10.34 as you can see below!
It has since lowered in discount unfortunately but that is just an example of some savings you can score if you shop strategically.
What I really love about shopping online and picking up in the store is that you can go through a cashback site and save even more money on top of what you already saved using the pickup discount! My favorite sites that give cash back are Ebates and TopCashBack.
Ebates is giving you a $10 Bonus when you signup, use my referral link: Ebates $10 Bonus
2. Use the Walmart App
The Walmart App is a great way to check prices before you go to the store and to also find out which Walmart in your area has the item you want in stock and at the lowest price.
If you have a lot of Walmart’s near you this may be a great way to compare prices!
The Walmart’s in my area often have different clearance schedules so it’s an easy way for me to check inventory and in-store prices. Just make sure to set the store location so you are searching in the right store.
3. Walmart Savings Catcher
This by far is my favorite way to save at Walmart! If you shop Walmart a lot (or even a little like me) then this will definitely be an easy addition to your shopping strategy.
All you have to do is download the Walmart app and look for the icon that says Savings Catcher, scan the barcode at the bottom of your receipt and it will look for a lower price at its competitors.
If they find a lower price than they will give you the difference!
4. Shop the Clearance Section
Clearance prices, of course, vary by store. Each Walmart usually has a complete section or a few aisles of clearance items. You may have to ask where the section is at your store or just walk around to find it.
You can also search the Walmart app to find items on clearance that may not be marked or in the clearance section of the store.
5. Use Coupons & Coupon Apps
Walmart accepts coupons so you want to take advantage of that. Use coupons whenever you can!
Don’t like clipping coupons? Use coupon apps! I love coupon apps because most of the time you can double dip on the savings.
Say for example you had a $.50 off coupon for toothpaste and one of your coupon apps has a $1 rebate back on toothpaste then you are saving $1.50. Use multiple coupon apps and save even more!
One of my all time favorite coupon apps is Ibotta. You can also check my Top 10 Coupon Apps for more great apps to download.
